DEFINITION

 The pool manager supervises the entire pool staff facilitating meetings and assigning workloads.  In the managerial position this individual administers evaluation reports to the staff, prepares the pool for open season and the close of the season. The pool manager will manage and collect all fees pertinent to all pool operations.  The pool manager shall record all receipts and make the end-of-day deposits.  The manager also keeps track of daily customer attendance. The Employee in this class is a seasonal employee and performs work related to the responsibility for the safety and orderly conduct of customers in the Pool and the surrounding pool area.  This employee shall also be competent in carrying out emergency procedures particular to water rescue and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS                              

  1. This position is subject to the City of Mangum’s Substance Abuse Policy which includes pre-employment testing.
  2. American Red Cross, CPR-AED for lifeguard’s certificate.
  3. American Red Cross, Lifeguarding/First Aid certificate
  4. Must have and be able to demonstrate swimming skills.
  5. Experience with another aquatic facility preferred but not required.
  6. Must demonstrate the ability to have good judgment and provide good decision making.
  7. Must possess and administrate Management skills.
  8. Possess Leadership and Public relations skills.

JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. The pool manager shall be responsible for the hiring, reprimanding and the termination of the lifeguards within the swimming pool department.
  2. The pool manager will act as the training officer and insure that all lifeguards are trained and certified in a compliant manner with all state regulations pertaining to lifeguard, life-saving, CPR, and First-Aid requirements.  These certifications shall be posted for the general publics and Health Sanitarians review in the bathhouse facility.
  3. The pool manager is responsible for the opening and closing of the Bathhouse and Pool facility.  These duties shall include but are not limited to cleaning and organizing the bathhouse for opening use and throughout the season, insure that all state government rules and regulations have been met and the pool is compliant and ready for opening, prepare all concessions and storage of food items in a secure area in proper accounting fashion, prepare bathhouse baskets, post all signs in regards to rules and regulations, clean and set out outside furniture such as tables, chairs, recliners, and umbrellas.  If needed, help in the cleaning and preparation of filling the swimming pool with water, chemical balancing, and the aquatic cleaning of the pool.  At closing of the pool the manager shall clean up and store all items related to the operations of the pool, bathhouse, and concessions.  Return time clock, cash register, and keys to City Hall immediately after closing. 
  4. The Pool manager shall manage all Fee collections; Admissions, Pool passes, Swimming lessons, Concessions, Pool parties, or any and all other services provided by the Mangum City Pool.  The manager will also record all receipts and make the end-of-day deposits in proper accounting fashion.
  5. The pool manager shall keep track of daily customer attendance and provide a year end tabulation of total attendance, tabulation of total season concessions of the Mangum City Pool and total tabulation of pool parties.
  6. The Pool Manager shall handle the sanitary issues of the pool.
  7. The Pool manager shall report and document all blood spills, accidents, injuries, rescues, first-aid performed and Fecal matter to the City Manager and the Mangum Fire chief for proper Blood Borne Pathogen processing.
  8. The pool manager shall develop all aquatic programs and recreational programs; pool parties, swimming lessons, 4th of July events, employee swims, DOC swims, senior swim times, and prepare the facility for fun events such as swim competitions, games, pool parties, and other special events, etc…
  9. The pool manager shall write an end-of-season report for the city commission and maintain a record of pool use.
  10. Assure the safe and efficient operation of the pool including compliance with all state statutes and health department regulations.
  11. Recommend fees for use of the pool including user fees, instructional fees, and facility use fees.
  12. Maintain an inventory of pool equipment including item, vendor, purchase date, and cost.
  13. Order supplies necessary for pool operations.
  14. Develop and implement rules of conduct for staff and pool users.
  15. Conduct self in a positive, professional manner at all times.
  16. Perform all other duties assigned as an essential function of this position.
  17. Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  18. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
  19. The pool manager is under the immediate direction and supervision of the City  superintendent and under the subsequent supervision of the City Manager.
